The Poezenkrant is a peculiar phenomenon. It is what the title promises, a newspaper about cats, but at the same time it is much, much more. It is a magazine that's about making a magazine and all that comes with it, it is a magazine that is perfectly designed.

Designer Piet Schreuders has been the editor since 1974 of the very irregularly appearing Poezenkrant. The first 19 issues were amateurishly made, and now very rare. Starting from number 20 the Poezenkrant was sold by selected sellers and people could also subscribe. Subscription always involved waiting. The next issue could appear after a few months, but between issues 44 and 45 were more than 3.5 years! Each new issue always looked entirely different than the previous issues, and also the format constantly changed. The last issue, no. 49bisA, appeared on a few pages of the VPRO television guide from April 2004. And now this magnificent book with facsimiles of the rare early issues and with the highlights from all of the following issues. The content: a unique cutting collection about cats, reprints of ads, photos, quotes, original contributions of i.a. Tonke Dragt and Willem Frederik Hermans and comments from subscribers. A masterpiece of cat nonsense, beautifully published (with cat tail!), illustrated in black-and-white.

The Poezenkrant is an irregular Dutch magazine with humorous short posts about domestic cats. The magazine is published and designed by graphic designer Piet Schreuders. Writer Willem Frederik Hermans and photographer Ed van der Elsken were among the contributors. The design is experimental and variable in size, layout, and logo. Because the Poezenkrant appears irregularly, subscriptions are taken out for a number of issues rather than for a period.

No.  20 is from April 1976 / 50-51 from autumn 2004.
32 issues were published in 28 years (= 1.1428571428557143 issue per year)

Condition: All issues are in very good condition.
Some even come in their original shipping envelope.
