An extremely rare and sought-after original early Omega military trench-watch with glass grid from the period World War I, about 1912-1916.
This is NOT a converted pocket watch, but an original wristwatch.
Evidence for this can also be found in the book of Konrad Knirim ("Bible of military watches") See photo.
Age can also be clearly determined on the basis of the serial number (see photo's).
This rare Omega is signed 3x: dial, case and movement.
Watch was worn in the trenches of the front line and has been through a lot. Nevertheless, the condition is excellent. Strap and buckle is of a later date and the glass has also been replaced. Furthermore, the watch is original.
White "Omega" signed porcelain dial with old restoration, which may deserve attention.
The case of this rare piece of military history is not silver, but rather Argentan or stainless steel. Movement runs well.
In short: a unique piece of World War I history now for sale. Probably the first and last time you will see such an Omega on Catawiki.
