Age: End XIXth- Early XXth century.

HEIGHT: 14 cm

This cup for holding the sixteen sacred palm nuts used in divination ceremonies is supported on the back of a chicken, as well as by a man on one side holding hands in front and a women on the other side that connect the circular base to the circular cup.
The upper rim with triangular motives all around.

Apart from being the most common sacrificial animal, the fowl figures in Yoruba creation mythology. Remains of white phemba powder on the top of the chicken, and red tokula powder on the lower base at the chicken feets.

Fine Shiny patina and offer remains.
