In November 1949, Zeiss Ikon was able to produce the first post-war Contax from Stuttgart. This Contax IIa was a completely new development and differed significantly from its predecessor the Contax II.
The offered camera with serial number P 99915 is exceptional. It belongs to the first batch, instantly recognisable by the lack of two screws at the rangefinder window. Few examples of this version are in circulation by now. A sought-after collector’s item therefore....
Also exceptional: the camera includes the original Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar 5 cm/f2 with number 3049882 in aluminium mount. Because Zeiss Stuttgart could not produce lenses yet in 1949, the East German Dresden branch had to be called upon. An exceptional collaboration...
Technically and cosmetically, this camera from the first production series is in exceptional condition. Chrome, paint and leather are very neat. Well-running shutter and... a contrast-rich and accurate rangefinder. The vertical adjustment of the rangefinder is also in order (Zeiss connoisseurs know that this is exceptional!).
The lens is scratch-free, without fungus or separation. Internally, it is visible from above that the black paint shows spots.
The camera will be supplied with the bag.
