Very beautiful and atmospheric painting by Reinier Wijnand (Rein) Snapper in original frame. The painting is in good condition with light, unobtrusive signs due to age, see the photos as these are part of the description. The work has been drawn twice on the painting and on the frame (on the back). The original frame is in a less good condition (needs to be replaced?) Oil paintings by Rein Snapper are not often offered on the market.

Reinier Wijnand (Rein) Snapper (Woerden, 28 February 1907 - Ammerzoden, 9 December 1988) was a Dutch artist. He is originally from a Dutch reformed family. He attended the "Rijksnormaalschool" in Amsterdam. Rein Snapper married twice. His first wife, Mies Snapper-Bloch, with whom he collaborated, was an illustrator of children's books and made portraits. Their daughter Saskia Weishut-Snapper is also a well-known artist. He married Mary Goudvis for the second time in 1949. With her, he first lived in Amsterdam and later, from 1969, in Zaltbommel. Mary Goudvis is best known for her animal engravings and fine watercolours.
