Exquisite fragment of a Tyrannosaurus lower jaw from the Hell Creek Formation. The piece consists of a bone fragment and three teeth, of which one is on the verge of coming through.
Tyrannosaurus Rex, also called ‘King of the Dinosaurs’, was a gigantic carnivore, that could reach up to 14 meters in height and weighed 8,000 kilograms. It walked on strong, high hind legs, keeping its horizontal and wide torso in balance using its short and heavy tail. Its arms were extremely small. It attacked its prey with its large heavily-built head. Armed with long teeth and heavy muscles, the jaws could exert a massive bite force. Tyrannosaurus hunted for large herbivorous dinosaurs.
