Julia Hidalgo Quejo (born 1948) is a Spanish artist and painter. Corresponding academic of the Sciences, Fine Arts and Noble Letters of Córdoba, she has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Spain and in many other countries. Her work is present in Spanish museums and collections, and in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Japan, Greece, Poland and Portugal.

She received her first drawing classes at the Mateo Inurria School of Arts and Crafts in Córdoba, from José Duarte, member of Team 57, then professor of the centre. She studied at the Higher School of Fine Arts in Seville and then at the University of Barcelona with a degree in Fine Arts. She also studied Interior Architecture at the ICADE in Madrid. She holds a master's degree in Didactics of Plastic Expression from the University of Córdoba. Later, she went to Italy to follow a research and improvement course on drawing at the Ratti Foundation, in the town of Como, under the direction of Emil Schumacher and Gerhard Richter.

Professor of Drawing at the Cordoba School of Arts and Crafts since 1983, as well as at the Workshop School of the Cordoba Provincial Council since 1986, she has given numerous intensive painting courses both in Andalusia and the Basque Country, La Rioja and Navarra. She has taught Restoration and done illustrations for cultural and literary publications, as well as painting.

She attends the classes that Eduardo Peña teaches in his studio in the Plaza Mayor in Madrid. Her contacts and friendly relationships with great artists from Córdoba, such as Ángel López-Obrero, Antonio Povedano and Antonio Bujalance, leave an important mark on her life and artistic endeavours. Those formative years run around two cities: the academic Seville and the cultural Cordoba. Since the 1970s, Julia Hidalgo has participated in competitions, fairs and groups; and individually exhibited in Jerez de la Frontera, Algeciras, Cádiz, Almería, Córdoba, Madrid, Venice and Trevisso (Italy), Bilbao, Barcelona, Seville.

In 1997 the Bishopric of Córdoba commissioned her to carry out some paintings for the main altar of the church of Cristo Rey and Nuestra Señora del Valle, within the reforms that were being undertaken by the main architect of the Cathedral of Córdoba, Carlos Luca de Tena. Later, she carried out the mural painting of the chapel of the Seminary of the Cerro de los Ángeles in Madrid and works destined for various frigates and minesweepers of the Spanish Navy.

Her work is represented in important museums and collections, including the Provincial Museum of Fine Arts, the Diocesan Museum and the Bullfighting Museum of Córdoba, Cajasur, Cajamadrid, Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos de Madrid, Drawing Museum of Castillo de Larrés, Duques de Lugo collection, etc. She has participated in numerous exhibitions on bullfighting art that have been held in Madrid, Valencia, Toledo, Seville and Córdoba, together with a group of highly prestigious bullfighting painters such as Álvaro Delgado, Vaquero Turcios, Barjola, Vicente Arnás, José Luis Galicia or Gutiérrez Montiel, among others.

She made the poster of the Feria de Córdoba 2007. She is the first woman who has captured in the official poster of the Fair her vision of the essence of the party, combining digital techniques of this type of art (for the drawing of the Fair's cover and typographic elements), with a painting in which she looked for "a whip of joy, of movement", with very thoughtful colours and a line that evokes the gesture of a woman making her faralaes dress fly.

In addition to numerous individual and collective exhibitions inside and outside of Spain for forty years, and works in museums and public and private collections, she obtained the First National Prize for Painting Cajamadrid, twice the First Gaudí Prize for Watercolour, two Medals of Honor of the prestigious BMW Painting Awards, First National Prize for the best artist in the specialty of Drawing. First Prize Painters for the 92... Etc.
