4to, approximately 21 x 15.5 cm, leather binding with gold titles and friezes on the spine, sprayed edges, red and black cover page, two plates in the text, handwritten notes on the last blank sheet, unfortunately missing the engraved frontispiece. In good condition, cover with slight abrasions along the edges, old restoration on the spine, interior in good condition (see photos).

The author lived in Rome around the middle of the V century and was a doctor of great fame, surpassed only by Galen. Although it derives strictly from the Greek Soranus of Ephesus (II century AD), Celio's work is important because it collects and contains the doctrines of the famous medical school of methodics derived from the Epicurean philosophical school.
