Luc Grün, born in 1936 and died in 2017, lived for half a century in the Alsatian village of Riquewihr, known for its historical architecture and officially one of the most beautiful villages in France. A former physics teacher, scholar and polyglot, Luc Grün was a colourful figure in Riquewihr, where he devoted himself to painting for decades. The artist's studio is frequented by both French and foreigners and is still an attraction in the village. After his abstract paintings from the 1960s, visual artist Luc Grün turned to postmodern paintings. This professionally cleaned, restored and varnished painting was one of his more abstract works.
