Marthe - Histoire d'une fille. With an impressionistic etching by J.-L. Forain. Second edition.
P. Derveaux, publisher,  "Bibliothèque naturaliste" collection, 1879. One duodecimo volume, hardcover, preserved covers but with lacks, 229 pp. Second edition of this text published 3 years earlier in Brussels with the mention "deuxième édition" on the cover and title page. Jean-Louis Forain's "impressionistic" etching is placed in the frontispiece, it depicts Marthe sitting with a bottle in her arms, the artist's signature in the plate. This etching had been rejected by Huysmans, it marked Forain's beginnings as an illustrator.
