Max le Verrier is one of the most famous Art Deco sculptors of the period between the first and second world war. He had his own foundry in Paris where he and a dozen employees casting his own sculptures and those of friendly artists into a metal alloy (zamak) and afterwards patinated them bronze-green. This reading woman was clearly cast by him, around 1925. Nowadays one encounters mostly more recent casts, from the same moulds, made by his great-great grandson. Lived patina.
