The Ovimbudu are the largest ethnic group of Angola. Their statuary is relatively small, compared to their importance. 

In this case we have the figure of a mother with her child, finely carved, presenting mastered forms.  She is breastfeeding her child.  With her smooth curves, the standing mother has a serene expression. 

With an orangish patina.  Long hairdo pulled backwards and open-worked (with a small, visible restoration). 
Feminine Nyaneka statuettes celebrate female beauty, this is one of them.
