Bound in a special blind-stamped pigskin binding with 2 brass clasps. The book includes a double-page title engraving, 3 folding maps and 15 engravings, including 3 folding engravings of coins.

Condition: good, with some defects. 1 map restored, a small part of the map is missing. pp 259/260 lacks a piece in the top right including some text loss. One of the folding coin engravings is torn off at the first fold, as a result most of the plate is missing. The title engraving has been restored at the fold. One plate is a bit loose. Paper slightly browned.

Extremely rare work. This is the German translation of the work of G.A. Savelli's (or Sabelli) “Guida sicura del viaggio d'Italia” (1680), by C. Weigel. It contains a description of Romandy, or la Suisse Romande, with the alpine passes, northern and central Italy. The book is beautifully bound and well preserved.
