“As a student, I wanted to be a painter. I lived in New York and I was friends with Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Andy Warhol,” says its CEO, Hervé Halgand. When I bought Vilac in 1985, Keith Haring immediately agreed to create a collection of toys. Like me, he was convinced that a beautiful toy could become a familiar object highlighted in a house. He had a real approach to the children. In Paris, he volunteered to design frescoes for the Necker Hospital. In New York, he decorated a school. His simple and clear childish style appeals to the little ones."
