OLIVIER TOPS is an emerging French photographer, Born in 1971 in a village in the French Alps, the fairy-tale Megève, to a family of photographers.
He was first a protagonist of the humanist photojournalism, travelling all over the world from 2006 to 2010 and winning two prizes at SEPR in Lyon.
Later he devoted himself to the study of new techniques. He lived for long periods in Rome, Paris, New York, London and the Mauritius Islands.
He developed two new techniques: Nailshading (in 2011) and Smart Art (in 2015). With this innovative technique, he d a portrait of Grace Kelly, offered to Her Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco, who placed it in the Royal Palace in Monaco (see the photos of the artist and the Prince with the work).
The photo offered here is a nocturnal image taken in Kathmandu in 2008 of considerable size, 40x56 cm, printed by the artist himself on 43x61 cm paper. The light cuts into the deep black spectacularly. The title, number 1/9 and the year are on the lower left; the artist’s signature is on the right. In excellent condition. Insured mail shipping.
