Very good hardbound copy of this charming almanac in pocket format, published by Louis Janet under the 1st Empire (1814), a valuable document for the genealogy of this period.
It opens with a calendar of the 12 months of the year, followed by the births and alliances of the sovereigns, princes and princesses of Europe, ambassadors and ministers of the French Empire and the foreign powers, the different military orders (“Toisons d’Or,” “La Couronne de Fer”, etc.), health services, house of the Empress, etc.
Full long-grain red morocco, decorative gilded roulettes on the spine and framing the boards. Decorated spine. Three gilt edges. Contemporary binding. Rubbing on the headcap, corners and edges of the boards, small fragment missing in the tailcap. Interior in very good condition, fresh.
