This Fiat 500 D version with suicide doors was transformed into a unique “500 D Coupè” by Mr Varis Vegni, a craftsman from the province of Grosseto.

Although the project was designed in the 1970s and 1980s, it was only at the turn of the 1990s and 2000s that this handcrafted body was built on the basis of a Fiat 500 D that he had owned since 1973.

The bodywork was entirely modified and hand-hammered by Mr Vegni in his spare time and took many years to complete.

A dedicated fuel tank was installed for the modified front, as well as a dedicated battery compartment.

The original width and length measurements have been retained, as has the sunroof. The car was properly inspected for roadworthiness; the inspection was passed in October 2021 and will be valid until October 2023. However, the car was purchased directly from the previous owner, and ordinary maintenance may be required in the medium term.

The colour is the original Fiat 115 Medium Red, the interior was completely restored with new upholstery, new seat covers, new door panels and new rear bench in original Fiat ochre colour with white bezel.

The Giannini wheel studs are new, as are some of the chrome details, the hood has also been recently replaced and opens and closes smoothly and keeps the water out.

This very special Fiat 500 D is sure to be the star of any gathering and has always attracted great attention wherever it has been presented, such as at the last Auto Moto d’Epoca fair in Padua. 

The paint shows some signs and flaws due to age, however, the floor and underbody are solid.
(See the photos on the lift) any improvements are at the discretion of the new owner.

The feeler gauge test showed no accidents (as shown in photos).
An engine compression test gave very good results (as shown in photos).
