Sale form my own private collection accumulated in 40 years. Extremely rare type of an original antique Tombak Lada, presumably coastal area Batak countries, Tapanuli residence. Sheath mouth in the form of a very beautifully crafted fish head. Animal heads are not unusual as a sheath mouth at Batak weapons. See ‘’Achim Sibeth Kunst aus Sumatra’’ for two weapons with an elephant head (image 50), as well as a Singha, a mythical lion on twee other weapons (images. 51 and 52) and image 29a for also a  Singha (with also a diamond pattern on the body by the way). In Batak Sculpture from Achim Sibeth and Bruce Carpenter. The grip/handle of the last weapon is in addition also comparable stick-shaped in form. The end of the bone handle is adorned with an embedded shell. The sheath halves are held together with subtly braided straps. A unique item in exceptionally beautiful condition. Nice old-age patina. No restorations. This unique piece should simply not be missing in a top collection! The sale, purchase and possession of arms are subject to national laws and regulations.
