Stunning rare 8”x10” photograph by pioneer American photographer Sheldon Hine (1907-2002). Original vintage gelatin silver print, signed verso.

Born 1907 to artist parents in Ohio, from an early age Sheldon Hine was a keen photographer. Fascinated by the effects of light in his work he soon became a master of photography and especially lenses and illumination. Following in the footsteps of Muybridge, he created his own tools and techniques. By the end of WWII he had combined this with his skills as an inventor and engineer to become globally renowned as a creator of unique imaging and lighting equipment. He was immortalized in the 1998 book “Sheldon Hine: 75 Years Behind the Lens”.

His iconic photographs are in museums all over the world and very rarely come to market.

Purchased from the Keith de Lellis Gallery, New York in 2006. This item is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity.
