Flandria (1573)
Very nice old-fashioned colored copy of the Ortelius/Mercator map of Flanders, published in the 1573 Latin edition of ´Orbis Terrarum..´. Only 75 copies of these were printed! According to some, this map was personally drawn and engraved by Gerard Mercator.
Decorated with several sailing ships, animals, a lady with the coat of arms of Flanders as a shield and a beautiful decorative border.
Good condition, some minimal, browning in the centrefold, otherwise excellent. Strong paper, sharp print and very nice old-fashioned colour.
