A Baule maternity from Yamoussokro region, seated on a pedestal and a finely worked two-legged stool, the feet and extended toes supporting muscular legs ending in a pronounced buttocks, lying on top of them, wound around the body, are several small strings of beads, the right hand, resting on the knee, holding the lower part of the infant's body, the left hand holding the head and leading it to the left breast, rounded shoulders with strings of beads around the neck, strong rounded shoulders with ornamental scars also on the breasts and neck, head with forward accentuated mouth under a thin nose merging into high arched brows, large almond-shaped eyes framed all around, ears with fine carved gradations, scarification marks with various geometrical motifs on the face, on the back and on the shoulder blades, finely striped coiffure; brown patina, traces of age with several cracks.
