Marcos - GT Mini MK3 Cooper 1.3 S NO RESERVE - 1971

The Mini Marcos GT is a car produced in limited numbers between 1965 and 1970 by Marcos (later on from 1974 to 1981 by an external company). It is basically a sportier version of the Mini Austin or Innocenti from the 1970s, all the components of which were reused by taking them apart and putting them on the car. It was also sold in assembly kits to replace the bodywork of cars that were too corroded. This car up for auction comes from the bankruptcy of an English body shop and the resin bodywork has been completely restored. This is a very rare version because: 1) is an original Marcos manufactured by the factory, with a Marcos chassis number, it was not sold as a kit; 2) it is an 'S' version that has the correct Marcos registration with the more powerful engine, the 1970s Cooper, the sportier version. Only 627 units of the Marcos Mini were built in all engine types from 1967 to 1970, this 'S' version with a 1300 cc engine being the rarest and most sought-after. It is recorded in the Mini Marcos register. LHD version, although Mini Marcos have both LHD and RHD drive capability. The plexiglass, handles, hinges and wiring are new. The mini Marcos club is very active and all specific spare parts are also available from MarcosHeritage or Minimarcos. This Mini is ready to house all the mechanical parts of a Mini that might otherwise be rusty or too costly to restore, to own a rare and very special car; they are an excellent investment because Mini Marcos are used for international competitions: the Mini Marcos was the only British car to finish (in 15th place) in the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans. He also set four British land speed class records. The car was built in 1970 and registered in 1971, imported regularly from England into Europe with a customs clearance bill and copy of the registration certificate (see photo). The bankruptcy auctioneer's certificate, the receipt of the purchase from the bankruptcy and a regular invoice from our Italian company, as well as customs documents, will be handed over to the buyer for registration. A video of the car is available. A high-resolution photo gallery is also available and is part of this description, on the seller’s website. Please ask Catawiki. Bidders are also welcome to view the vehicle, which is located in 51039 Quarrata (PT), Italy. Please send a message to Catawiki to arrange an appointment on site; you can also book a video call from your smartphone. We can arrange transfer of ownership or exports documents remotely. Affordable shipping to Italy, Europe and rest of the world You can also conveniently pick up the car on site, as it can stay 15 days at our storage facility free of charge. An appraisal of compliance of the photos and description will be carried out by an expert before delivery.
