Identifié comme une figure importante dans le renouvellement de l'abstraction en Europe du Nord, Corneille s’oriente progressivement à partir de 1967 vers une Nouvelle Figuration riche et colorée qui se coordonne avec le goût Pop Art des Années 1960 et 1970.
