Gesigneerd wereldkampioen fanshirt Philippe Gilbert!

Gilbert werd op 5 juli 1982 geboren in Verviers en is één van de beste renners die België ooit heeft gekend. Hij begon zijn loopbaan in 2002 bij Française des Jeux en bleef daar tot 2008 in dienst. In 2006 won hij voor die ploeg Omloop Het Volk en Parijs-Tours en werd er steeds meer rekening gehouden met hem. In 2009 maakte hij de overstap naar Silence - Lotto, dat later overging in Omega Pharma-Lotto. Voor zijn nieuwe ploeg won hij in 2009 zijn eerste Monument, de Ronde van Lombardije. Dat kunststukje herhaalde hij in 2010 en dat najaar betekende een opstapje naar het beste wielerjaar uit zijn wielerleven in 2011. 

De jaren voor 2011 had Gilbert al enkele voortreffelijke resultaten laten zien, maar 2011 gaat de boeken in als zijn beste jaar ooit. Hij won in twaalf dagen tijd, vier heuvelklassiekers. Hij won eerste de Brabantse Pijl, toen de Amstel Gold Race, vervolgens de Waalse Pijl en als laatste en mooiste overwinning Luik-Bastenaken-Luik. Dat zou voor een gewone wielrenner al een geweldige prestatie zijn, maar hij won dat jaar nog veel meer. Onder meer de Strade Bianche, de Clásica San Sebastián en de Grote Prijs van Quebec. Verder won hij de Ronde van België, de Ster ZLM Toer en boekte hij overwinningen in de Tirreno en de Tour de France. In de Tour de France pakte hij door een overwinning in de eerste rit ook nog de gele trui. Ook kroonde hij zich dat jaar tot Belgisch Kampioen. Oftewel, een jaar dat moeilijk te overtreffen was.

Gilbert wint na Parijs-Roubaix vol op Milaan-Sanremo
Na dit wonderjaar lukte het hem in 2012 ook nog om wereldkampioen op de weg te worden. In dat jaar reed hij al voor BMC Racing Team, waar hij tot 2016 verbleef. Daarna vertrok hij naar Deceuninck–Quick-Step en haalde hij nog twee monumenten binnen. In 2017 won hij de Ronde van Vlaanderen en in 2019 Parijs-Roubaix. In 2020 maakte hij de overstap naar Lotto-Soudal, waar hij een contract tot 2022 tekende. Daar hoopt hij ook zijn vijfde monument te winnen, Milaan-Sanremo.
