Very massive old Gata Fijian war club.
This one is the largest Gata I ever possessed.
The shaft is large and the club is very heavy, must have belonged to a very powerful men.

Gata clubs where used as ritual dance clubs and for also for warfare.
I believe this one has served for ritual dancing as can be seen on the enclosed picture.

Provenance: private American collection.

Th 2 pictures of Fijian warriors are not part of this auction.
