Beautiful and rare specimen of fossil fish Priscarara.
The plate is divided in two halves, from which both the positive (for sale as another lot) and the negative (the specimen in this auction) were recovered and professionally prepared.
The Priscarara is a species of freshwater fish that lived in the Eocene, about 50 million years ago, and is to be considered the ancestor of the current sea bass.
The Priscarara had an average length of approx. 20 cm and the specimen in question measures 23 cm from tail to mouth, therefore a size out of the ordinary.

Even if a photograph does not do it justice, it is possible to observe some elements such as the spines and part of the mouth with a beautiful relief.
It’s a fossil of rare quality.
