Mesopotamian Clay Tablet with Cuneiform

Circa 2nd millennium BC
This interesting clay tablet features rows of cuneiform text meticulously inscribed to both faces. 
Cuneiform, a system of writing originating in ancient Mesopotamia, involves wedge-shaped marks impressed onto clay or other surfaces. The typical appearance includes intricate patterns of these marks forming a language unique to the Mesopotamian region. Primarily used for administrative and literary purposes, cuneiform played a crucial role in documenting the cultural, economic, and political aspects of Mesopotamian society. The process of creating cuneiform involved impressing a stylus into soft clay, and these inscribed tablets were often baked or sun-dried for preservation.
