You will be surprised, but in Ukraine mimosa is called Silver Acacia. true mimosa is an evergreen shrub native to Australia that loves the warm and humid climate of the Southern Hemisphere. Europe also readily accepted mimosa for its beauty and unpretentiousness. The plant blooms from January to March (depending on the climate), which has made it a symbol of spring and rebirth.

Why do mimosas seem to be everywhere on March 8th?
This is due not only to the fact that mimosa blooms from January to April. The plant surprises with its combination of hard stem and soft flowers. It was the symbolism of the mimosa that led Teresa Reboly to be chosen as the symbol of International Women's Day ceremonies back in 1946. Since then, mimosa has repeatedly appeared on holiday cards, posters and with every bouquet given.

Mimosa plants were originally grown in ancient Egypt as a miniature embodiment of the god Ra.
