He is also known as Shozan, Hyakujo, and Hyakuen-Shujin. Studied under Kimura Ohshun at the age of 14. Later studied under Watanabe Shoeki and Kawabata Gyokusho. In 1896, he transferred to the Tokyo Fine Arts School and studied under Gaho Hashimoto. In 1910, he traveled around Europe and the United States. He devoted himself to the study of botanical painting. Cultivated more than 1,000 species of domestic and foreign plants around his studio and worked on sketching them. Lived in Osaka.

Mifune Tsunate (1876-1941)

Japanese-style painter.Born in Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture.
