Volvo - P1800 Jensen - 1962

***This lot benefits from a reduced buyer's protection fee of 4.5% (instead of 9%) which will be arranged for the winning bidder after the closing of the auction. You will be approached by a sales team one working day after the auction has ended. They will help you further with the discount*** HISTORY Car imported from the USA to Spain in 2006. Since then it has had one owner until 2021, a second until the end of 2022 and its current owner. This 1962 Volvo P1800 is a refurbished example of the attractive classic coupe, and an early example with bodywork built by UK-based sports car manufacturer Jensen Motors. The odometer indicates 60,257 miles. It is currently registered in Spain as Historical Vehicle. MECHANICS It is powered by a naturally aspirated 1.8-litre inline-four, which sends its power to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. BODYWORK This P1800 is finished in a timeless white hue over a beige-leather trimmed interior with a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a contrasting silver and black dashboard. It rides on 15-inch wheels with chrome hubcaps, and shod with Maxxis whitewall tyres. INTERIOR Equipment includes a wooden three-spoke Nardi steering wheel, manually operated windows, Smiths gauges, a radio cassette, and push-out front quarter light windows. The car has also been fitted with an aftermarket air conditioning system. It will be supplied with its owner’s manuals, the tool kit and two keys, as well as a selection of invoices for parts and maintenance. CONDITION Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition. Specific notes from the seller include: the car has benefitted from a prior repaint and retrim, and the condition is best appreciated from the image gallery and video. The seller notes that the air conditioning unit belt has not yet been installed, and therefore the retrofitted air conditioning system does not currently operate. The most recent inspection of roadworthiness was conducted in October 2021 during which the seller reports that an oil leak was noted, which has since been rectified. SERVICE HISTORY The latest service was carried out during September 2023 at 62,100 miles by NorClassics. The work comprised of an engine oil and filter change and inspection. Prior to this, the car was serviced in April 2022 which included replacement of the shock absorbers and the wheel bearings. SUMMARY This Volvo P1800 is a charismatic classic coupe, in early trim with the fit and finish performed by UK-based Jensen Motors. Finished in an appealing colour scheme, and retaining many of its original features, this example will no doubt make a fine companion for weekend drives on its new owner’s favourite roads, a wonderful weekend cruiser, and a fine car show entrant or visitor. DEFECTS The car has some aesthetic defects in the bodywork that can be seen in the photos. The underbody is in good condition. Photos of the whole car have been attempted to show all angles and possible defects. #HVLcampaign
