狩野勝川院雅信 Kano Shosenin Tadanobu (1823-1879)
Born in Edo, the eldest son of 狩野養信 Kano Osanobu (1796-1846). He was Hatamoto and the Edo shogunate's official painters of the Kano school. He was the 10th and last head of the Kobikicho Kano family, active from the end of the Edo period to the Meiji period. His students included 狩野芳崖 Kano Hogai (1828-1888) and 橋本雅邦 Hashimoto Gaho (1835-1908), who became leaders of the Japanese painting innovation movement.
