Monumental painting with deers at the forest stream was executed in 1862 by listed German animal painter and lthographer August Schleich (1814 - Munich - 1865). He was the son of other painter Joh.Carl Schleich, studied at the Munich academy and worked here. His works situated in the famous Maillinger Collection Munich and in the Dresden Kupferstichkabinet.

Literature: Thieme/Becker "Allgemeines Lexikon der bildenden Künstler."

Inscription: signed and dated (18)62 lower right.

Technique: oil on canvas, magnificent original period frame.

Measurements: unframed w 76 3/4" x h 55" (195 x 139,5 cm), framed w 81 7/8" x h 60 1/4" (208 x 153 cm)

Condition: in very good condition, original canvas.
