... The title of the card is a remark made by Beuys when Burnham, an American art theorist, advanced what he felt were dubious hypotheses about Marcel Duchamp (in “System Esthetics”, 1968).

According to Burnham, human thought, especially in art, the development of the eidetic versus the biological entails an abstraction that puts the emphasis not on the object or the environment, but on information, that is, on the relationships of mediation and on the processes and systems in which they are located. Beuys definitively broke with this traditional figure, proposing a social ready-made by postulating that anyone could become an artist. However, Beuys always positioned himself against any type of anti-art, that is, he never stopped believing in the transformative potential of art on society...
