Esta obra pone de manifiesto la vigencia que para Miró tenían aún los signos y símbolos de los años cuarenta como expresión de su concepción poética de la pintura. Un amarillo dorado invade la superficie y rodea una gran masa azul rizada, pintada directamente sobre la imprimación blanca de la tela. La reserva blanca alrededor del azul le confiere luminosidad. Estrellas, planetas, las configuraciones elementales de los personajes ineludibles (la mujer y el hombre, el principio femenino y el principio masculino) y, por encima, un trazo ondulante —pájaro y horizonte a la vez— contribuyen a la definición de este espacio, ofreciendo una nueva versión de la cosmología mironiana.
