Unique Ultra High End Full Range Speakers

One off private commission passion project

Expertly built over 3 years (2003-2006), at a cost of 25000 Euros

Avalon Eidolon based, in so far as the drivers and overall shape of the cabinets is the same, but every other aspect is extensively improved upon.

As a fortunate hi-fi nut I've owned several flagship speakers from the big brands. Such as B&W 800 Diamond, KEF Blades, Focal Scala and Maestro до, Tannoy Kingdom Royal, Avantgarde, PMC, Spendor, Meridian etc.

Performance wise these operate in a totally different league. Seriously. As such they are an utter bargain for the performance they provide.

Not to be confused with any DIY home built effort. The quality of the fit and finish of these speakers match, and in most cases, far exceed factory built offerings from the big manufacturers.
The cabinets feel rock solid, totally inert. Every component used is simply the best available, regardless of cost.
From the Accuton Ceramic Drivers, to all of the connectors, to the ultimate spec Duelund and Jupiter Capacitors used in the external cross overs.

Prior to hearing them I naively thought the Accuton ceramic drivers might provide an ultra detailed, but slightly thin and sharp character. That I find can blight so much supposed high end hifi, coming at the cost of musical enjoyment.
I could not have been more wrong!
In these speakers they produce a full, weighty, juicy sound, whilst retaining all the detail. The music hangs between the speakers with a solidity that makes you feel you could reach out and touch it at times.
Despite the relatively modest size of the bottom ported single Eton Woofer they go as deep as any speaker I have had in my room. Truly full range in effect.
They genuinely are quite remarkable. I consider their performance to be comparable to £100k+ factory made options, as opposed to the £15k - £40k factory options that I have owned previously.

Speaker Base on Spikes (HxWxD):
10 x 46 x 67 cm
Spikes are huge and milled from solid metal.
They attach by a male M8 thread underneath the base. So can easily be swapped out for feet, depending on your flooring. I used Isoacoustics Gaia I (not included in sale).

History of the speakers provided to me when I purchased them:

They were a project created in The Netherlands a few years ago. Commissioned by a private Audiophile, they were made by Johan Heynen, a high quality Dutch cabinet maker who produces bespoke speaker cabinets under JH Acoustics to standards and tolerances far higher than that of the originals. The crossovers were designed by Rob Meyst, who had previously formed Driade Speakers in Holland. They use top quality (and very expensive) components including Duelund capacitors.

The result is an "improved" version of the Eidolon. More precise and better soundstaging and imaging. The construction is of the highest quality and the speakers look superb in a deep burgundy red.

The project was a labour of love and took three years to complete at a cost of 25,000 Euros!

You are correct. I have heard a standard pair of Avalon Eidolon and they are a great speaker. One of my all time favourites.
But these are in a different league. In short, they take everything that the Eidolon does so well, such as imaging and tone, and supercharge the performance to a whole new level.
