Description from the seller

Solid oak Arts and Crafts style coat rack

Dutch craftsmanship, dated 1900 - 1930.

The coat rack is handcrafted from solid wood with a traditional finish. The design is artisanal craftsmanship, evident in the rounded, upward-bending hooks and the simple slat pattern on the back.
The style was popular in the early to mid-20th century, when functional and sturdy wooden furniture was in vogue. You could also call this coat rack a sober variant of interwar furniture.

The coat rack in the photo exhibits features associated with the Arts and Crafts movement, a trend that emerged between approximately 1880 and 1920 as a reaction to industrial mass production.

This style emphasized craftsmanship, natural materials, and functional design. Features of Arts and Crafts furniture include simple, straight forms and rectangular shapes without unnecessary decorations. Often, the construction is visible; techniques like tenon-and-mortise joints are not hidden but displayed as part of the design. You can see this in the photo of the back of the rear panel. Additionally, the aesthetics are functional, as seen in this coat rack, where the rounded hooks allow your coat to hang more naturally than if they were straight. The design is thus functional and serves the purpose of the object. Durability was also a priority, with the use of wood aligning with the Arts and Crafts movement's emphasis on natural materials.

Two holes in the coat rack board have been repaired. Presumably, the previous owner had it mounted on the wall or something similar. Otherwise, the coat rack is complete. The simple style is emphasized by the use of the same oak wood for all parts.

Five slats, six hooks. A headboard that slightly takes on a pentagon shape. A point is visible beneath hooks 3 and 4. The sides of the headboard slope outward slightly from top to bottom. The same applies to the slats, which slope inward from the front slat to the back slat.

100.5 cm width
18 cm height (widest part of the back wall)
26 cm depth (the posts where the slats are mounted)

The coat rack will look best in a Japandi or minimalist interior.
The coat rack has a beautiful patina of aged wood. Here and there, it has been bumped, resulting in a small dent and some paint spots, giving it a lived-in look of 100 years. The coat rack has been photographed from all sides, so you can clearly see that its antique condition is good. Please note that these photos are part of the description.

The coat rack will be well packed and insured before being sent to you.
