Splendido arazzo realizzato tra la fine del 1800 e i primi del 1900. L'arazzo si ispira all'opera di Nicolò Barabino (Sanpierdarena 1832 - Firenze 1891) "Quasi oliva speciosa in campis", un verso biblico che significa Come un olivo maestuoso nella pianura. Tuttavia questa opera del Barabino è meglio conosciuta come Santa Maria o Madonna dell'ulivo. Questo dipinto si conserva nel paese natale del noto pittore, ovverosia nella Chiesa di Santa Maria della Cella, oggi un quartiere di Genova.
L'arazzo in questione è stato realizzato con la tecnica del telaio ad alto liccio, tecnica nota sin dai tempi antichi, sulla base di un cartone predisegnato.  Per realizzare 1 m² di un arazzo di questo tipo sono necessarie almeno 500 ore di lavoro.
L'opera che presento e in perfette condizioni, nonostante i numerosi anni che data. È circondato da un bordo decorato con una sorta di fiori di color pastello.  L'arazzo è sorretto da un bastone quasi certamente in ottone. Il fondo è decorato da folte nappe.
Curiosità: il Barabino dipinse un primo quadro con questo titolo che a quanto si legge andò perduto. Per questa ragione il pittore ne dipinse un'altra versione che si conserva nella Chiesa già menzionata. Tuttavia in seguito a numerose ricerche risulta che la prima versione della Madonna dell'ulivo non è andato perduto. E questo arazzo si ispira decisamente alla prima versione visibile nell'ultima foto e non a quella conservata nella Chiesa di Santa Mariadella Cella.  Si noti infatti che la posizione del Bambin Gesù riprende quella visibile nell'ultima foto dell'opera in questione. Inoltre nell'ultima foto, in fondo a sinistra, sono presenti delle arance, che non sono state dipinte nella versione conservata nella Chiesa già menzionata.
