Ancient Greek coin amulet from 1st century BC, Antiochia ad Orontem AE20 Tetrachalkon, depicting Zeus on the obverse and Zeus seated with Nike on the reverse, about 19.7 mm in diameter, in very fine condition with a modern leather suspension cord and a bronze loop, authenticity original and certified upon request (PDF) for €100 or more.

Very rare ancient Greek coin amulet with its original bronze suspension loop. The coin is showing a bust of Zeus on the front, on the reverse Zeus sitting on throne holding Nike and scepter. The amulet is strung on a modern leather jewellery cord with clasp, allowing for modern wear or display.
-> Zeus (Jupiter), god of the sky and weather was the chief deity of the Pantheon and protector of cities, the home property, the family and guests. Zeus was regarded as the guarantor of world order and justice and was widely worshipped.
Coin: Antiochia ad Orontem AE20 Tetrachalkon, struck around 40 BC.
Obverse: Laureate head of Zeus right.
Reverse: ANTIOXΕΩN THΣ MHTPOΠOΛEΩΣ KAI IEPAΣ KAI AΣYΛOY KAI AYTONOMOY, Zeus seated left, holding Nike and scepter.
Diameter: ± 19,7 mm

Condition: very fine condition, smooth dark patina with a bold portrait of Zeus. Very rare amulet, strung on modern jewellery cord. Signs of wear consistent with age and use.
