This elegant Italian potholder column dates back to the 1940s and features a highly polished black ebony lacquer finish, accented by subtle gilded piping. 
The cylindrical shaft is adorned with a lively Chinoiserie-style hand painting depicting a pagoda and two figures amidst clouds, willows, and flowering branches. The molded base is decorated with small floral motifs. 
Designed to support vases or sculptures, this piece combines the neoclassical and art deco styles of the postwar era with a refined exotic touch, making it highly sought after in contemporary settings.
The column stands 90 cm high, with a base measuring 28x28 cm and a top measuring 26x26 cm. 
It is in very good vintage condition (see pictures).
