Various Authors - Jaarboek van het Mijnwezen Vol. 46 - 1918-1919

Jaarboek van het Mijnwezen in Nederlandsch Oost-Indië. Zes en veertigste jaargang. [Volume 46]. Batavia and Weltevreden, Landsdrukkerij, 1918-1919. In five volumes. 8vo (24.8 x 17.8 cm). 343+358+452 pp., one folded chart, over 100 photos and large text illustrations and 28 mostly folded and coloured maps. Near uniform printed boards. The most important work on mining and mineral resources in Indonesia (former Dutch East Indies). It contains also a lot of information about the minerals, tectonics, volcanology and palaeontology of the region, and is embellished with many fine maps, photographic views of landscapes, etc. This is the complete 46th volume, dealing with progress made in 1917. Each yearly volume consists of the following parts: "Algemeen Gedeelte" (General Part); and Verhandelingen (Transactions) the latter in two parts, namely text, and maps in a portfolio. The maps are usually large, and often printed in colour. Photographs in this volume include the damage caused by earthquakes, landslides, waterfalls, mountains, etc., occasionally with views of man-made structures, people, boats, etc. This particular volume contains too many contributions to fit in one volume, hence there are three text parts, and two portfolios with maps. Boards and spine covers rubbed, with some loss at the head and foot. Some age-toning. Errata leaf loosely inserted. Stamps on front board and verso of map portfolios, former owner's name on front board of second part of the Verhandelingen, this part also with a slight crease of the outer edge of a few text leaves, and a small bump to the rear lower corner, otherwise a very good, clean set. Very rare.
