This is for the early XXth Century an exceptional wide bed linen at 2m40 width
and thus possible up to a 2 meter wide bed.
The linen fabric is particularly tightly woven with warp and weft
and has a wonderful supple touch.
The initials are embroidered in very high relief and clearly stand out 
from the back ground.
In the early XXth C. you could buy these soft carton initials in haberdashery shops.
They would have different styles. The paper would be pinned down on the linen
and with blue chalk outlined and the work of embroidering would commence.
These initials are typical from an English script and flow beautifully and are verty 
elegant. Each initial carries what looks like a beech or oak nut which has opened.
The edgings have an excellent ajour open thread work.
