Titel: Lage polychrome meanderschaal, Stellmacher  Amphora Turn-Teplitz, circa 1920

Deze lage, halfbolvormige schaal van zogenoemd ivory porcelain heeft twee platte lughandvatten. De schouder is rondom versierd met een strak reliëf van ineengeschakelde Grieks-sleutelmotieven waarin rechthoekige vakken zijn ingevuld met gedempte tinten roest, oker, mosgroen, ivoor en diepbruin. De verhoogde lijnen dragen een okergouden slipaccent. De onderhelft is egaal mat umber en wordt van de polychrome bovenpartij gescheiden door een smalle, ongedecoreerde ivoorgele band.

Historie fabriek: In 1892 richtte Alfred Stellmacher samen met zijn zoon en schoonzonen de firma Riessner, Stellmacher & Kessel op in het Boheemse Turn-Teplitz. Hun producten, consequent gemerkt met Amphora of de initialen R.St.K., werden beroemd om innovatieve vormen, experimenten met glazuur en het door Stellmacher gepatenteerde ivory porcelain. Met ontwerpers als Eduard Stellmacher en Paul Dachsel groeide het huis uit tot de leidende producent van art-nouveau-keramiek. Na het vertrek van beide ontwerpers rond 1903-1904 bleef Amphora nog jaren een begrip bij internationale verzamelaars.
