Thomas Struth was student of the first class of Bernd and Hilla Becher (together with Candida Höfer, Andreas Gursky, Axel Hütte and Thomas Ruff) at the Academy of Art, Düsseldorf. 
Thomas Struth is one of the most famous Becher students, beside his pictures famous for fantastic photobooks and artist books like 'Museum Photographs' (Martin Parr, The Photobook vol 2, page 273/274).
