Mountain Design (No Original Plastic Cover)" is a collection of photographs by Yukio Tabuchi (1905-1989), one of Japan's leading mountain photographers, who graduated from Tokyo Higher Normal School in 1928 and taught mountaineering in the Northern Alps. Tabuchi joined the Educational Film Department of Nippon Eigasha in 1943 to become a photographer, and moved to Azumino, Nagano Prefecture in 1945 when the area was evacuated. In the magnificent Northern Alps and the lush greenery of Shinshu, he devoted his life to researching insect ecology and photographing nature, including mountains. Known as a naturalist, he left behind a variety of works and research results based on his unique belief that "knowledge learned by reading from nature is the most correct. This book, the third in the trilogy following “Mountain Time” and “Mountain Seasons,” brings together the diverse patterns and forms he has seen in the mountains, including mountain forms, plants, trees, insects, birds, and other creatures. The photographs are as impressive as the book itself, and the layout, which he created himself, shows a keen sense in the way the photographs and text are arranged, making the book even more appealing.
