"AT MIDNIGHT in the U.K. on 22nd November 2011, AN ERA ENDED". After that point, it has been illegal for whiskymakers to use the term Vatted Malt to describe a Scotch whisky made by the combination of two or more single malts. And as it represented a style of whisky in which Compass Box had always specialised, that regulation had a particular meaning for them. Therefore, they took the decision to bottle this amazing Limited Edition that, then, will be THE LAST VATTED MALT !

1323 bottles at 53.7% vol. combining : 78% of Caol Ila 1984 matured in american oak hogsheads + 22% of Glenallachie 1974 matured in a first-fill sherry butt. The result is this whisky that is still celebrated today for its unique combination of mature, smoky Islay malt and richly sherried Speyside malt; creating a complex profile with dried fruits, maltiness, and subtle sweet smokiness.
That release is a living piece of Scotch Whisky History !
