“Still Life with Reflecting Sphere” is a lithograph by M.C. Escher that showcases his fascination with reflections and distorted perspectives. The artwork features a reflective sphere placed on a table, capturing the entire surrounding room, including Escher himself, who appears in the reflection.
This piece is an early example of Escher’s exploration of self-portraiture through reflection. He frequently used spherical mirrors to study perspective and distortion. This approach later influenced his famous Hand with Reflecting Sphere (1935), where he further refined the concept of self-representation in a curved reflective surface.
