De Garrard Comet SP Mk III is een klassieke Britse draaitafel uit het begin van de jaren ’70, voorzien van een robuust idler-drive aandrijfsysteem en automatische afspeelfuncties. Deze derde generatie (Mk III) heeft een verbeterd intern mechaniek ten opzichte van eerdere modellen en is standaard uitgerust met een automatische start-stopfunctie, return-mechanisme en afslag aan einde van de plaat.

De toonarm is recht, lichtgewicht en uitgevoerd met verstelbaar tegengewicht. In dit exemplaar is een betrouwbare Audio-Technica MM-cartridge gemonteerd met sferische stylus (AT3600L-type), 

De draaitafel ondersteunt vier snelheden (16, 33, 45 en 78 tpm) en is daardoor geschikt voor vrijwel alle gangbare platenformaten, inclusief oude 78-toeren schellak. De plint is afgewerkt in wit, een zeldzamere en decoratieve uitvoering die afwijkt van het klassieke zwart- of zilverkleurige model.
