Imposant religieus beeld in wit biscuitporselein, voorstellende de Heilige Maagd Maria met het Jezuskind, en vermoedelijk vervaardigd in Frankrijk, eind 19de eeuw. 

De sculptuur meet maar liefst 55 cm in hoogte en is vervaardigd met uitzonderlijke finesse in de modellering van gelaatstrekken, plooival en symboliek. Maria draagt het kind Jezus op de arm en houdt zijn voetje beschermend vast, terwijl Hij een rijksappel in de hand houdt — het klassieke symbool van zijn universele heerschappij.

Het beeld rust op een bolvormige basis, bekleed met sterren in reliëf, verwijzend naar Maria als ‘Koningin van de Hemel’.

Onder haar voeten kronkelt een slang met een appel in de bek — een duidelijke verwijzing naar het Paradijsverhaal en de erfzonde. Maria vertrappelt de slang met haar blote voet, als symbool van haar onbevlekte ontvangenis en haar rol in de overwinning op het kwaad.

Het matte biscuit porselein komt hier prachtig tot zijn recht in het spel van licht en schaduw over het oppervlak.

De algemene staat van het beeld is zeer goed, met enkel een lichte beschadiging aan de appel in de bek van de slang, nauwelijks zichtbaar bij normale beschouwing. Het vertoont normale ouderdomssporen en enkele krimpscheurtjes in het biscuitoppervlak, eigen aan het bakproces.
