Elena Vaninetti

Flow(ers) is an ethereal image where natural elements of the forest merge in a play of movement and light, creating an abstract and contemplative composition.

This work is part of my photographic project "Sati Vana, the Forest of Awareness", where trees appear as entities that embody our emotional states. Entering this forest is like embarking on a journey between dream and wakefulness, where one can confront the forces of nature—and of oneself. The project is developed entirely in the Beigua Natural Park, in Liguria, Italy

Using Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) and multiple exposure techniques, I aimed to embody passion as an illusory state of mind, where boundaries dissolve and elements dance like flames in perpetual motion.
The final image is the result of numerous attempts made directly in camera, without any post-production intervention, through patient work with multiple shots and studied movements.

The print is produced in 29.7 x 42 cm format (A3) on Hahnemühle Museum Etching paper, a premium fine art paper that ensures extraordinary detail and long-term preservation. The work includes a 2.5 cm white passepartout and is printed in my studio using a Canon Pro-1000 professional printer with Lucia Pro inks to ensure maximum color fidelity.

This photograph is part of a limited edition of 30 copies available from copy 1/30 printed in December 2024, created in October 2024.

Each piece is personally printed, numbered and signed, guaranteeing not only high quality but also a deep connection between the creative process and the final work. The print comes with a Hahnemühle certificate of authenticity with holographic seal.

ABOUT ME

My name is Stefano Balma and I am a landscape photographer from Genoa, Italy, in 1988. In every phase of my life I have dedicated myself to some form of art, first with drawing, then with music and in 2019 I encountered photography, on the occasion of my first great trip in Morocco.

Nature has always been my main subject, but over the years I have tried to include more introspective themes in my shots, which have always been very important in my life. Attending a Buddhist community in the area, I developed a particular sensitivity towards themes such as impermanence and the flow of existence, which I have progressively tried to represent through rocks eroded by wind, the mutability of arctic landscapes and the movement of the trees.

Since 2023 I've started collaborations with FotoCorsi school as a tutor for photographic trips, and with the Cinque Rosso gallery for the sale of my shots.
