The Bibibibi table lamp by Ingo Maurer, designed in Germany in the 1980s, is a limited edition (no. 17 of 500) black metal and plastic lamp with feathers, a movable reflector on a white porcelain plate with two stork legs, measuring 55 x 30 x 30 cm, in good used condition and in working order.
Description from the seller
The Bibibibi table lamp by Ingo Maurer is definitely something special. Originally designed as a wedding gift for a couple of friends, this playful lamp has found its way into Ingo Maurer's collection and continues to enjoy great popularity. On a white porcelain plate are two stork legs, on which a black lampshade rests. A long, attached spring bobs with the movement of the lamp. The reflector of the Ingo Maurer lamp is movable, so that individual adjustment of the illumination is possible.
Ingo Maurer's luminaires are characterised by innovative zeitgeist: unusual, surprising design paired with craftsmanship and technical know-how. This applies in a special way to the playful Bibibibi table lamp.
This example is part of a limited edition produced in the eighties (n. 17 of 500)
Excellent condition for its age, traces of use (scratches and signs outside and inside the lampshade as shown in pictures). Verified working conditions (light bulb not supplied). Some extra feathers will be provided with the lamp. Please take your time in looking at the pictures since they are part of the description.
Ingo Maurer, born in 1932 in Germany, worked as a designer in Germany and in the USA. In 1966 founded "Design M" in Munich (Germany). Many design awards achieved, among others: 1999 the Design Award of the City of Munich, 2000 Lucky Strike Designer Award, 2002 "Collab's Design Excellence Award" of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Honorary doctorate by the Royal College of Art, London and award of the Design Prize of the Federal Republic of Germany for lifetime achievement.
